adidas Superstar 80's x Blondey McCoy White / Black - Gum is part of the limited edition adidas Rider Series and will drop at Penloe on Saturday 14th December
21 year old Blondey McCoy is a talented skateboarder, business owner, model, and icon of his generation with strong ties in art and high fashion. When he was asked to contribute a rider colourway to the Limited Edition adidas Rider Series, he naturally chose to work with one of his personal favourites, the Superstar, and personalised it with the aim to bridge the gap between fashion and skate.
Blondey wanted to add an entirely new twist to the Superstar without changing its classic DNA. Taking influence from the knitted sock shoes and PVC trench coats of high fashion, he created a clear PVC Superstar combined with classic Samba tones: natural gum and blackstripes. As a nod to the rider’s own preference for riding in socks and shorts, Blondey added three uniquely different custom football-inspired socks as a finishing touch.
With its distinctive shell-toe design, there’s no mistaking this street icon. This version of the adidas Superstar 80s features a daring take – designed by Blondey McCoy.
Clear TPU quarter panels, synthetic leather eyestay, tongue and heel mustache, metallic gold foil, and sticky gum rubber bottom/shell toe.
Every pair of Blondey x Superstar 80s comes in a custom box that includes three pairs of football inspired socks, offering three different looks to the shoe. Each pair folds under the knee and features its own text, iconic colour, three stripes, and River Thames outline graphic. The adidas blue socks sport graphic text that reads, “Piccadilly” & “Oxford.” The red pair reads, “ St. Giles” & Cambridge” — all circuses around the rider’s home district in Soho, London. Finally, the white socks emphasise the collaboration featuring“Blondey” & “adidas” text.
